84 Z28 axle code

I am new to this list as well as new to an 1984 Z28.Just bought the Z28 today with a rebuilt 350 out of a late model vette. I was looking at my axle code to check to see what kind of rear is in my car and the code was 6EW, but it was'nt in the haynes manual. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. Main reason being I want to know if it is a limited slip rear with a decent size gear (3.23 or higher). If not what would be my best option for converting my rear to a posi? Can I keep the current rear in there and just change the internal parts of the rear? Thanks.

So the first thing you should already be doing is changing the fluids, right?

So, while you're doing the rear end lube, which requires taking off the cover, make a point of looking at the gears. It's the only way to know what's in it for sure. People swap stuff all the time, which is probably why you can't find the "code", it wasn't used that year.

Screw the codes. That is the road to deception and uncertainty. Take off the cover and look.
