Making the Hurst/B&M TH350 bracket work
I got a fresh rebuilt longtail TH350 ($400). Fresh 2200 stall converter ($92). ES Poly torque arm bushing ($12). Installed a B&M stage 2 kit ($30, probably should've used TransGo right??).
That Spohn thingy is too $$ for me.
I bought the Hurst kit torque arm kit for my 92 RS ($80), only to find it doesn't at all line up with the GM torque bushing plate (others here had same prob). Trying hard to figure where to drill just to use the beat-up GM rubber mount. The ES Poly bushing; forget about it and the hurst kit, no way possible...
The B&M bracket will cost me $100 extra and what guarantee do I have. Others here still have had to drill extra holes. I'm not scared of drilling, just want something that will work.
I understand Hurst designed their kit for 82 camaro. I suppose I could go to GM and get the torque bracket for that car. Problem is, GM used at least 2 different torque arms (lips facing driving side or pass side). I'm sure the entire arm is pricey let alone the GM bracket.
Nice tranny with no where to go, this kinda stinks. I've used B&M kit no prob on my old 84 Z28. But this 92 RS seems to be an oddball, nothing fits it.

Okay went to GM...
In 82 no Camaro/Firebird got a 700R4, that happened in 83. Ordered the 83 outer torque arm bracket and it's identical (different rubber/torque arm shape) to the bracket on my 92 RS, it won't fit the hurst either. Wife's 89 Firebird same setup as my 92 RS.
Is everyone that is using the Hurst kit modding it/welding it together or did the car have a 200R4 previously?
I should have used the B&M kit... now I have to find a welder.
