t-56 and all needed for $1100

hey guys what do you think? i found a deal on a 6 speed with all teh stuff you need for the conversion form the donor for $1100, its a t-56 out of a 96 camaro with 75K miles.... is it time to make teh switch?
the only thing is this is moving quick, and i would have to shipit...so i wont be able to check it out, and i'm hoping the guy/girl will give me some kind of warranty....

please all opinions asap....

also what are the advantages /disadvantages of a manual vs auto... i haven't 100% decided if i want to go stick in my daily driver yet....

also in a t-56 what kind of speed range can youg et in each gear? right now i ahve 2.73, but will prob put in 3.42 or 3.73's if tha matters

could i put it in 5th and drive anywhere from 40-70? 30 mph spread? do all gears have the same spread?

thanks
tj

I'd go for it. I didn't get to check out my T56 before I bought it. Guess you just gotta hope they're honest people. 1100 isn't bad at all! As far as mph in each gear, I'll let you know in a few weeks

You'll have to drill into the firewall to mount the clutch master cylinder. It would be easier if you looked at a car that has a T-5 from the factory.

You will not want to use 2:73s with a T-56. Here are the gear ratios for this tranny.

F-Body (Camaro & Firebird) with T-56

Year 1993 (M28) 1993 (M29) 1994+ (MN6)

1st: 3.36 2.97 2.66
2nd: 2.07 2.07 1.78
3rd: 1.35 1.43 1.30
4th: 1.00 1.00 1.00
5th: 0.80 0.80 0.74
6th: 0.62 0.62 0.50

With an automatic is more consistent at the dragstrip. A manual is good for autocross, road racing, and having fun driving around.

I really doubt he would give you a warranty, but its possible.
