Nasty drivetrain noise help!

Yesterday i got in my bird and once i got to about 25-30mph,I heard a nasty thunk, and now everytime i let off the gas or give the gas a push it pops and etc. If I keep barely on the gas at a steady pressure, it makes no noise, unless i hit a bump, almost seems like a U-joint to me, and my front one has just a little play in it. Does this seem right? Also, could it be the trans mount? almost feels like somethin is slapping the bottom of the car, I just am hoping its not the tranny. Also, with the driveshaft out of the car, the tranny doesn't make a sound in gear or shifting.

trans mount is a likely suspect followed by u joints. if you know you have play in a u joint now would be the time to replace it not later.

Thanx Ede, I just got back from dropping my driveshaft off at the driveline shop. Getting 2 new joints, and a yoke if needed. As far as the tranny, as I was saying with the driveshaft out it is fine when runing, I can even shift through gears at any time without pushing the clutch. Is this normal? Normally when I run the car(driveshaft in) the trans grinds into 2nd, without the shaft in it shifts just fine, is this just beacuse theres no pressure on the trans?
