messed up tranny. what went wrong?

ok i was cruising down the freeway only doin like 70.

and all of a sudden my rpms fly up to 3500 and its like im in nuetral. so i pull over and when i finally stop and im idling in drive the car is like lurchin like crazy. so i put it in park and then it idles fine, put it in N and it idles fine. so then im like wtf. so i put it back in drive and start driving and the thing pulls to 1500 then it stops pullin and jus revs like in N until you hit about 3000 then it pulls but just barely and it lurches and acts all nutty. so i got back to where i could park the car safely and when i came back out later to try n drive it and maybe figure out whats wrong. it wouldnt even go into reverse. it like tried to go but stumbled. so now all gears stumble and lurch around.

tranny fluid is fine. everyone says i blew the tranny. but im not exactly sure. the fluid is wicked clean like new and doesnt smell burnt. the tranny only has like 30k on it.

my car is an 87 iroc 350tpi with a 700r4

if there is any possibilities of what went wrong that dont involve a new tranny that i could check into i'd love to hear them.

so in a nut shell its going into gear but the car isnt moving.

I would guess at torque convertor.Mine blew once and i only just managed to get home doing about 3000 rpm and 5 mph.
Good luck

If the fluid level is fine, then the front pump rotor or the torque converter hub is "possibly" broken, or breaking apart.
