700r4 Torque Converter Problems

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF SWAPPING MY 2.8 V6 FOR A 4BBL 305. I PULLED A 700R4 FOR THE V8 FROM A DONOR BUT IT DIDNT HAVE A TORQUE CONVERTER WITH IT. I BOUGHT ONE ON EBAY BUT IT DOESNT WANT TO GO ONTO THE TRANSMISSION. THEY ARE BOTH 27 SPLINE SO I DONT KNOW WHY THEY WOULDNT FIT TOGETHER. ARE THERE DIFFERENT VARIATIONS OF THE 27-SPLINE 700R4? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED! THIS IS THE FIRST BIG SNAG I HAVE RUN INTO ON THIS PROJECT.

Is it a new T/C?

I heard that aftermarket Torque converters are a tight fit, because they are build to tighter specifications than stock. I wouldn't force it on with a hammer or anything, but I would give it another try, with more force.

Also, you might want to contact the ebay seller, they might have information for you too.

Good luck! : )

Yes, it is a new aftermarket TC. I contacted the seller and he assured me it was the correct one and that he didnt know why it wasnt going on. I will give it another try but like I said I had a few people with experience doing this try and they were stumped too. Thanks though.
