I want to hear some horror stories of blown 10 bolts. List the modifications you did, slicks or street, and what happened. I want to get a feel for what they can and cannot take. I have a built 10bolt (Moser axles, really stout locker diff, 3:73 gears, and a girdle with braces) and its not broken it in yet, and I don't want to destroy it. It will be a year or two before I can afford the 12bolt or 9 inch replacement.

with the stuff listed, you could probably run low 11's high 10's with slicks without breaking it.

my dad broke an axle with a set of drag radials running mid 12's, but those were the tired stock axle. he upgraded to the 9" as soon as we got home.

my only other suggestion to add to your parts list would be to get a good set of c-clip eliminators.

like my man said above...those parts will last a while..but make sure u get some bolt in axles..even with disc brakes those c-clips arent the best..

as far as stock strenght..ive seen many LS1 T-56 cars revlimit sidestep launch with drag radials on stock trannys and rear ends pull mid 1.6 60's and low 11 passes...

talk to tim burgess on these boards...

hed pull 1.6's launching off the limiter with nitrous on with silcks on a stock T-5 and 3.42 10 bolt...11.77 with an LB9

Some last awhile and some dont. I've seen STOCK LS-1 cars on ET streets brake 10 bolt rears (trashed spider gear, broke axles, etc........).

So, thats why I wont run any type of drag radial / slick until I can afford a Moser 12 bolt.

i fragged one on the first launch with slicks.

after that, i only ran street tires and never had a prob.

if i were you, i wouldnt run slicks or pesudo slicks (et streets, ect) until you can afford a new rear end.

355

I forgot to mention that the 355 I have cranks out 425 HP estimated @ 6000 rpm. It is a vintage 1974 Nova Custom engine (original heads 333882's, no porting, and block) with a stealth intake, M4M Q-Jet, CompCam 280H, 1.6 to 1 Full Roller Rockers, dual valve springs 135# seat (1.44's), 9.4 to 1 pistons, 2.02/1.60 valves, headers and a flowmaster cat back, no cats, and an NOS Super Power Shot set for 125HP. I also drilled holes in the back of the intake to convert to a 4 point cooling system, and run a 160* thermostat.

EGR and PVC in place.

I want to run a set of BFGoodrich Comp T/A Drag Radials.

C-Clip eliminators

Can C-Clip eliminators be installed on my moser axles without modifying them or the rear end?

Do NOT run C-clip eliminators if you plan on side loading the axles, ie road racing or autocross. They are for drag racing only but will be OK on a street/strip application as well.

I'd have to agree with Mr. Dude. I sheared 3 teeth off the ring and one off the pinion launching on the street with a set of BFG DRs. They hooked and it broke. With the equipment your have I'd say your safe to run a DR but nothing more and i woudn't try fro anything below a 1.8 short time. Yes I've seen plenty of folks go 11's on a stock rear and then I've also seen others go on the first launch. The bottom line is they wont handle repeated abuse. If your like me you'll just keep replacing ring and pinions till you can afford the big dawg. If your having to pay someone to do the gear install for you, I'd look into getting a loan cuz it wont take too many times of paying someone to equal the amount a decent 12bolt/9 inch will set you back. I also dont really agree with all the aftermarket dodads you can strap to these weak rears they may add some strength but the bottom line is you can't fix the main problem with these rears and that is the size of the gearset. Spend your money where its gonna go to good use liek a 12bolt/9 inch. IMHO

I am running 7.8's in the 1/8th w/ a 1.84 60ft on street tires. The car could launch alot harder if I had SFC's, LCA's and bracktets. IF I push it to hard the car wheel hops violently.

I have a girdle and welded tubes and thats it. I figure if I ever put slicks on it it will grenade. I hope I can get 1.75's or so on the street tires after some suspension mods. The car won't see full slicks till its gets a 12 bolt, thats a shame cause it could launch so much harder now.
