I have lost reverse gear completely and 2nd is about to go. Will an T5 that came from a v6 camaro fit in mine? and if bell houseing is the ONLY problem can i just switch my current one to the new tranny?

 

I believe the V-6 T-5 uses a different imput shaft and is weaker. I wouldn't try it. I think they make rebuild kits for them that run around 300-400.

 

Id get a worldclass T5.. thats your best bang 4 the buck I find..

 

rebuild kits, do it yourself? wouldn't want that, (dont have the garage for it). i've called countless shops and they are all the same 1000-2000 for a rebuild. im just desperatly looking for more options.

 

whoah, for 1000-2000 on a rebuild is waaaay too much, heck with that you can buy a T-56 or Tremec TKO. If you are going to spend that much i'd go with the TKO, if not try ebay and the sponsor son the page, although I find the sponsors waaaay overpriced.

get a rebuild kit for 160-180 and do it yourself...its very simple...

 

um that depends on what he broke. When I broke mine I destroyed 2nd, both the 5th drive and driven gears, the countershaft, and I believe I fuktup the output shaft. Parts for me to rebuild it myself was like 5-600 bucks. not to mention I would need to get a gear puller and a good pair of snap ring pliers.

 

i have a t5 for sale works great. only 10k mileso n it bought it brand new too. it is in my 87 gta with a tpi 350. i dont burn out or beat on it in any way because i heard you're not supposed to put t-5s in my 87 GTA torque issues or something so i take care of it as to not ruin it and have to buy another one. how much you looking to spend email me at polygaryd@yahoo.com
