Tough shifting manual into 1st at stop

The manual trans in my '89 RS seems to be getting tougher
to shift back into 1st or 2nd at a stop. Sometimes takes
5 - 10 seconds to get it to go in.
Is this likely simply a lube situation?
If so, where / how please.
Chuck

That probably points to the clutch going. Does it seem harder to push down the pedal??

From: out of my mind; be back in 5 minutes....
Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
Does it grind, or just not want to 'go in'? It might need a rebuild if it's the latter. You may be able to get by for a while by getting it into first before you come to a complete stop, IE: while you're still rolling.

Doesn't grind. Just won't "go in".
Clutch pedal not had to push down, nor does it slip.

had the same prob. mine was that the clutch master was bleeding off. then come to find out, the throw out bearing was improperly installed... for a long time! if your car has never had a throw out bearing replaced than disregard that tho. but if you wanna check out the hydraulic system as far as bleeding off, jack up the car have someone push in the pedal while youre watching the slave from underneath. have them hold it in, if the slave rod begins to creep back in then either your master or slave is bleeding off. id replace both if this is the case, because 1 of the 2 is worn out, meaning the other probably isnt far behind. this could also cause the prob youre having so you might wanna check it out.
