Will a g-force rebuild prevent this?

wow, thats awsome. Yes, the g-force upgrade should prevent this from happening again. The reason this happened is that the t-5 case flexes under heavy load, changing the spacing between the mainshaft and countershaft. They spread apart, so the edge of the teeth are in mesh, instead of the body of the teeth. After a while, they just let go, like in your case. The g-force kit is a lot beefier and teeth brakeage will be a thing of the past.

the gears will be harder to break, but it wont do anything for the case flex.....so a similar situation could occur under load if your making enough power

no it wont,
case flex in a t5 is inherent to the design of the case, not the relationship to the gear shafts in the case, but the case itself.
compare the case to a tremec, a richmond, or a real g-force or a jerico case and it will be obvious why.....
its a fairly thin walled aluminum case thats cast with a smooth surface, no reinforcement.
it will make the trans stand up to more abuse in 5th gear, like they are talking about, but its not going to save the thing from drag racing abuse of any kind...'
it all depends what your doing with it

I'm sorry that I wasn't clearer. The g force upgrade will do nothing for case flex. That, I thought, was a given. It will however help prevent teeth brakeage in the future that is due to case flex because the gears are a lot stronger.
G force claims that with their T5 upgrade, a 3200 lbs car with slicks, a sticky clutch, 600 hp, and 600ft lbs of torque can consistantly beat the trash out of their gearboxes at the dragstrip without failure.
So basically, anything within reason that you would consider doing to a manual transmission car, this trans will hold up. If what you want to do with your car exceeds the above mentioned limits of the T5 upgrade, you need a automatic. Perhaps Ineedaf*ckingpowerglide.com could help you then. LOL

It will aid in keeping a T-5 together..... quite considerably. One of the most effective upgrades that you can make to a T-5 IMHO.
The stock bearing retainer is made out of stamped steel. As the gears are helical cut, the mainshaft is forced backwards by gear thrust. The stock stamped bearing retainer starts to bend. This causes endplay in the mainshaft. As the Mainshaft bearings are Taper Roller bearings you now start to get excessive clearance between the Mainshaft and Countershaft gears. When that starts it is just a matter of time before the gears self destruct.
I put this mod in my WC T-5 about 5 years ago when I switched from a 700r-4. Tranny still holding together after 5 years of Hillclimbs, Autocross and the occassional Road Race. Pretty effective Mod I'd say. ( Fingers crossed )
Note: Drag Racing a different deal.......as stated

Although I haven't dyno'd this combo yet I did pull a 114 mph in the 1/4 mile with out using the juice. I feel it's a 400 hp motor then add a 150 shot(tranny went before I could use the spray). The torque should exceed 500ftlbs putting me in the g-force range. This is a 383 w/ afr 190 heads a SR and hot cam at 10.2:1 compression. Check out my web page.
I know all about the case flex on these trannies. I think that the stabilizer and better gears will work fine for my combo. I'll keep you all informed on the outcome and performance.

I talked to Bubba at g-force and they do not have any GM true alloy mainshafts which so far only come on the dog ring gears(straight cut).
Thay say that the ford mainshafts work just he same but I would have to swap yolks. Gm is 27 spline and ford is 28 spline.
They will have the GM mainshafts in a month so I've got that long to wait at least.
