elec. speedo to cable-drive tranny?

well my life just got more complicated. in the middle of my 700R4 to t-5 swap i realized that my '90 bird has the electric speedo, and my t-5 out of my 85 iroc is set up for cable drive. damn.

so can i retrofit the t-5 to accept the electric speed sensor? do i have to find a cable drive speedo? ideas?

thanks

Just get a VSS out of a junkyard T-5 car. It interchanges directly with the cable gear housing. You'll need the right speedo gears of course; that goes without saying.

If your car is TBI, make sure you get a VSS out of a TBI car; if it's TPI, get one from one of those. They give different #s of pulses per mile (2000 TPI, 4000 TBI).

I believe the auto and the T5 ones are different sizes; I'm using a V6 one with the TPI cluster in my Formula with no problems.

Auto and T-5 are different. It will have to be for a T-5.

I have never bought a new one, so I don't know how much they cost; they're entirely too plentiful used.'

I haven't the vaguest idea about anything to do with a 6-cyl. I don't have one, never have, and don't plan on it. I've never worked on one. So I'm sorry, I can't help you there.
