clicking aluminum driveshaft

A few weeks back, I installed an LS1 driveshaft in my RS. It cured the high speed vibration, but in its place created another semi-annoyance.

Whenever I take off from a stop, it makes a 'click' sound (sometimes a couple) that sounds like metal when it is being stressed or a light 'tap' on the shaft. It's not very loud, but it is audible. Whether I'm accelerating slowly or mashing the pedal, same noise. When I shift into reverse, it does the same thing. Nothing is hitting or rubbing on the driveshaft (or even close to it, for that matter).

Has anyone else experienced this with an Al driveshaft? Would a bad u-joint possibly cause this? I'm not getting any other symptoms of a bad u-joint (intermittent vibrations at certain speeds, etc.), but I don't want to rule anything out.

My guess is with the U-joints. Alot of the times, the only symptom you will get is the clicking, or a squeeking noise. Put the car up in the air and see if there is any play in them. If there is, it's time for new ones. If you do have to replace them, get the greasable type. As long as you keep up with them, they will last you alot longer.

Thanks, antoine, for the peace of mind. Anyone know the best place to look up GM tech. bulletins? Is there a good 4th gen. ( ) board that might have this information?
