from ad:
Tranny has a bad countershaft and bad 5/6 sychro set. It also has a NEW input shaft all new bearing and a steel 3/4 shift fork.

$500 or OBO

ive seen the parts of it, the countershaft has some of the teeth ripped off it... no idea how that coulda happened...

in anycase, how much you guys think for a rebuild? a new countershaft? new synchros (all of them)?

synchros, fork pads, etc

I would guess $100-200 for a GM countershaft, but don't quote me on that.

As for labor....I don't have a clue. I do this kind of work myself (in fact, I did it when I swapped in my T-56) so I can't tell you much about the cost of the rebuild. However, if you want to try it yourself I have a .pdf copy of the T-56 service manual.....email me if you want it.

Do they make hi-perf. internals for the t56? I mean, i am sure they do, but how much would it cost do you guys think for a complete rebuild for say, a better load rating?

There really isn't much to upgrade in the T-56. Steel shift forks aren't too pricey, and you can go to dog-rings instead of synchros, but after that you get into cyro-treated shafts and weird stuff like that. There are a few Viper parts that are stronger and will swap in I think, but I'm not too sure on that. Look in the "advanced tech" section at CZ28...there are some guys there who have strengthened their T-56s.

Reason i ask is b/c D&D want some serious cash for their trans'. I'm wondering if i could just get a used t56 and have someone around here do the rebuild. I know i could just ask the guy i know how much it would cost but i would like to know what all is involved and hear from others who have done the same too. Well, thanks for the tip for cz28.com. I'll check it out.
