Can't downshift into 3rd from 4th or 5th?
It upshifts fine, no resistance or anything. But when trying to downshift from 4th or 5th, it will not engage until I get to ~15 miles an hour. If I go down to 2nd and, of course, do not let off the clutch, and then go back up to 3rd, it engages fine. What is this? Does this mean it's time for a T-56? TIA...

Synchro is worn and can't bring the pressure plate up to speed. I bet if you kept the clutch in and held steady pressure going into 3rd it would eventually "sink" into gear. That'll wear the synchro even more though.

try double clutching it - should work fine - clutch in - go to neutral - clutch out - rev motor in neutral - clutch in - go to lower gear - clutch out - continue down road w/out having to buy new tranny just yet
