Instructions are wrong for b&m Mega shifter !? HELP
I am in the process of installing my new shifter and i followed the enstructions to direll the two holes for the front mounting brackte that it said should be 9/32 which i did. When i put the screws back in to put in the new shifter i found the size of the hole was the outer size including the threds so the hole was to big to work. I did use the stock screw is that right? Has this ever happened to any one else before?
any suggestions would be greatly appriciated!
(I asome that i should just go out and buy bigger screws does that sound right or should i do something else?)
*Also, Does it make sense that at the point i am at with the cable hooked up and the shifter mounted, exept for the front two screws, that you can move the shifter on the transmition by it selfe fine and the shifter with the swivel disconected fine alone, but when they are conected it wont come out of park unless some one pushes the shifter on the transmition at the same time as some one pulls the sifter into a gear? If this is wrong what should i do to fix it?
Thanks Guys,

Well for the front screws just find some new ones that fit. I drilled mine out and I just went to the scrap bucket and got 2 that fit the holes.
For the shifter not working properly. I'm guessing since the transmission shifts fine and the shifter shifts fine when you connect them it doesn't means there's something wrong with the cable. I would go back and check that and make sure you didn't put it in a kink or sharp bend.

i think it had something to do with the way the car was jacked up because when i brought it down it worked fine.
Also what does that piece you have to get from radio shak for the 6 wired harnesses really do. and is it actally imoprtant or not also i dont understand exactly how to wire it the diogram is confusing.
thanks again for the help,

Are you talking about the switches that mount on the side of the shifter with the 2 little prongs. Those are for your backup lights and start switches.... else the other connector which is a relay from radio shack it's deals with the converter lockup. If you search the board you should beable to find info on it. Pretty much from the way I understand it, just raises your idle up a little bit while out of gear sense the converter doesn't get the pulse to lock up, doesn't effect anything else that I know. I still have regular lockup functions too while in gear..... I might be wrong though. I know I've read it somewhere here before though so if you really wanna know search. ;-)
