I just got a Pro 5.0 shifter for my six-speed. Looks like a beefy high quality shifter!
However, I've heard that you need to be careful on the adjustment of the 2 set screws (shift stops).
How do you know where to properly set them to? Is it better to be to long of throw or too short of a throw before you hit the shift stop bolts?

If you have them too loose you can overextend and bend a shift fork, and if you have them too tight it can cause grinding/popping out of gear. If you adjust them right, you'll be fine. This is the method given by the instructions for my B&M Ripper, but since the Pro 5.0 uses the same type of stop the adjustment should be the same.
Mount the shifter up to the trans and back the stop studs out flush with the shifter base. Put it in 3rd and let go of the shifter, then tighten the front stop to where it just touches the stick. Now tighten the nut while holding the stud in place. Repeat for the rear stop, but in 4th gear.

This is the way I adjusted the stops for the Pro 5.0 on my T-5. I think I only adjusted them when the car was in third and fourth. Thos two gears will have the shifter at its maximum travel. I would adjust it in sixth as well with a T-56 because sixth is farther down than fourth and you will need to have the adjuster a bit farther back. However, the pro 5.0 will probably get rid of the travel distance between 4th and 6th and sorta equalize them. 6th gear in my 95 Z is WAAAAAY over and down and feels like it is isolated away from the other gears. So after the car is in gear adjust the stop so that it is about 1/16" away from the shifter handle.Originally posted by TheGreatJ

I just got a pro 5.0 and haven't installed it yet since I am still in the process of a T-5 swap (from Auto) and the instructions do say to shift into gear (they say 1st and 2nd, but I think 3rd and 4th would be fine) then screw in the stops until they touch and then back them off one full turn and tighten. This is for a T-5, but I can't imagine it'd be any differnet for a T-56, but not certain!! This is what the instructions say anyway!!
