Compression Fitting?

Hi,
I just finished changing the flexplate but bent the rad. feed line from the tranny when pushing the tranny back. It fell short about 3"es so i cut it and bridged the gap with some transmission hose and clamped the ends. Took it for a test drive and it started leaking.
I got home took the hose off, flared the ends of the line and reattached the hose clamped the ends again, tighter now. This time the line burst. Possibly one of the flares cut in to the hose or something.
Anyhow i decided to go the compression fitting route. I got 2 5/16" fittings and a 5/16" brake line from Autozone.
As the brake line is a little 'fat' to go into the c-fitting, i sanded it to fit the c-fitting. I have everything fit tight and snug. But i do notice both the 5/16" brake line (which i sanded to fit the fitting )as well as the original tranny lines are kind of squished when they go into the c-fitting.
Did I overthighten the c-fitting compression nut. Will the brake line (about an inch long) withstand the tranny fuid temp and pressure (alongwith the fact that i thinned the outer surface of the line or will it burst like the tranny hose over time.

Happy New Year to All

Thanks Sean

asking on one board is enough to get an answer. it doesn't matter if you thought asking on more than one would increse the odd or you'd get more knowledgeable people that might not read all the boards, one board is enough.

Thanks for your concern. However my initial starting problem was answered when I posted it multiple times in seperate boards.

In other words it does increase the chances of getting a knowledgeable answer. It might happen that one is browsing one board and not the other.

Anyhow anyone have any answer to the query.

Thanks for your time.
