Gear upgrade question.

this isnt for my car its for my friends 1991 Chevy 1500 P/U. we recently pulled the old 3.42 from it(shreaded the gears) and put a 14 bolt 4.10 rear end in and now we need to set the speedo so its right. i know with the camaro i will have to replace two gears in the tailshaft fo the camaro. but how do i go about doing this with my friends truck? it has a 5 speed. any info would be great. i know its not about a thirdgen but this is the only place i really know of that would know what to do. TIA.

i had a 90 4x4 chevy that someone put the dana rear in place of the 10 bolt. i'm thinking my t5 had the speedo in the tail housing of the trans but it's been a while since i had the truck. get under it and look, see if the speedo goes to the tran, if not it's eletric.

if it goes through the trans. then i have a question.

the truck has a 5 speed and he bought a parts truck(the truck we got the rear out of) that truck had a TH350 or TH400. would the gears from that tranny work?
