I am building a carbuerated 383 but plan on using the 700R4 transmission still. I was wondering how you can change the tranny so it shifts at higher rpm's than stock. I am also going to purchase the pro-built rebuild kit (street/strip) if that makes any difference. The tranny was from an '89 RS with the 305. I would like to have it shift around 6000 rpm's.

 

You'd need the B&M governor recalibration kit. The governor's hanging out in the tailshaft, and it's got weights and springs- when the governor flies open, it tells the trans to upshift.
