Have to Double Clutch 4th Gear (HELP)

Ok I baught a t-5 a few months ago and installed it Since day one I have I have to double clutch when shifting UP to Or Down TO 4TH Gear. A buddie of mine helped me (he actually did it)Replace the Syncronisers and it still didn't help. Some one said something about it might be the Main Shaft or input Shaft, which one of these would cause this problem. Any other Information Would be helpful.

Are you sure he did the synchros right. 99% of the time if you can get the car into gear smoothly by double clutching it you have a bad snychro for that gear.

Well I watched him and It looked Right Plus the week before We removed his tranny and Replaced Syncros, he has had no problems.

The reason I am asking this is that He has Since Moved to a different state and I am going to have to take the transmission out and take it to a tranny shop, I don't want them to rip me a new A** on rebuilding this. I would like to just replace it with a T-56 but Used they are 1200.00-1600.00 Dollars, and I wouldn't know the condition of it either. If I have to shell out 1600 Dollars I will just send my tranny into G-Force and then it will be done right. What could the possiablities be with it and what should a tranny shop charge to fix if it is already removed.

Hmmmmm.... I am not really sure. Well having the tranny out will cut costs by a ton right there. I had a bad synchro in 5th gear when i first got the car and it cost me 850 at a GM dealer. I could have gotten it done cheaper but I was young and was just exposed to f-bodies for about a month. Even a rebuild should be around a couple hundred if the thing is out of the car. Are you sure that your clutch linkage is properly attached. I am sure some tranny experts will chime in pretty soon.

Did you put in a new pilot bearing / bushing? Is it still good?
