tremec t-56 after mrkt shifters,anyone?
was about to call jegs or summit and ask about a short throw. though i would ask here first. anyone know of a hurst or equivalent short throw that works well on a tremec t-56. same as gm t-56 or different? just want to know before i buy.
thanks
thanks
i believe only B&M and Pro 5.0 only makes shifters for the aftermarket tremec T56. i wanted a Hurst a while back so i emailed them to see if they had a shifter for the aftermarket T56 and they told me it'd be available in about 8 months. well now its 8 months later and i havent heard ne news on the shifter for the T56. im in the market for one myself and tired of the long throw stock shifter.
and if your looking for a GM T56 aftermarket shifter, dont look cuz they will not fit the Tremec Aftermarket T56.

thanks for your input guys. i figured shifters for GM t-56s wouldn't work but wanted to check here anyway. maybe i'll shoot hurst an e-mail and see if they say it will be availible in another 8 months! nothing against B&M or Pro 5.0 but their just not the same as Hurst. thanks again guys.

Hurst does too make a short throw shifter for T56s, you can order it as a factory option from SLP on new camaros. The shifter thats on the front of the box for the T5 hurst shifter is actually the one for the T56. But the throw isnt any shorter than the T5 one though, but VAST improvement over stock.

Pro 5.0 makes a shifter for the 4th gen F-body T56. I'm running it in my '86 right now, and couldn't be happier with it.

yes hurst does make shifters for gm t56s, but i have a tremec aftermarket t56. my understanding is that they are different, and no one... (besides tremec)... makes a shifter for it. I went to the hurst site and they make shifters for the tremecs in mustangs , which is a totaly different design and location. i found nothing specific to a tremec t56 unit.

No the shifters shouldnt be any different for your tremec t56. Considering that tremec took over the borg warner division for US manufacturing many years back. So even a stock t56 is made by tremec, so it will most likely work. I'd just get the billet plus.
