is t-56 hard to swap in auto?

I currently have a 83 firebird with an aftermarket 350 in it. It has a 700r4 and I'm looking to do a t-56 swap. I was thinking about buying the package off of third gen resource. The 350 is a 2 piece rear main. Would the flywheel bolt up or no? I dont use the computer anymore either if that means anything. I've never done this before and I'm worried im going to run into a problem because I don't know exactly what im doing. If anyone could help me out or give me info i would appreciate it.

There's a lot of posts on hear about how to do it and also about the problems that people have had with various aspects of the swap.

Most efficient thing for you to do would be to start reading because you're going to have a lot of questions. What I did was go through all the posts I could find and printed off some of the ones that seemed most useful.

Ditto. I compiled a folder about 1" thick full of information about the swap. To detail everything would take a small book, which isn't available yet, but I'm working on it.

Basically I don't think it is hard from a mechanical standpoint. Nearly everything bolts together if you use the right parts. The best trans for this swap is a '94-'97 F-body trans. You can use the pedals from either a 3rd or 4th gen hydraulic car. You need a custom crossmember (www.skulte.com). 2-piece rear main motors need a custom flywheel. Not having a computer isn't an issue. You'll have to figure out what to do to make your speedo work again. Lots of options here, do a search.

This might be a stupid question but are there any differences in in putting a t - 56 into an 83 than in a later model? I ask because most parts pages list some stuff as 84 - 92...

There are some minor differences between 82'-83' cars and later 3rd gens. For these cars you will need pedals from a later car, even if you already have a stick, because those cars had a mechanical clutch linkage, and you will want to run hydraulic for your T56.

You will need a later driveshaft too, because these cars had a different length shaft for either the TH200 or the Saginaw 4-speed.

That's about it. I'm 90% sure that the stock torque arm will work. Just be sure to use a T5 or T56 mount at the trans.
