well if it's your axles then get new ones? if you need a new pinion then get a new one? you can get a used ring and pinion in the classifieds for like 50 bucks if thats what it is.. or go to a junk yard and get some axles for now. your transmission isn't in your rear end. and if you need a yoke and a driveshaft you can also go to a junk yard and get it all. or you can buy new. never need to junk a car.

There's no sense in junking any car for a rear end problem. That's just bad advice, period.

If the axle is slightly to the side, then your panhard bar is probably bent. Very common, amazingly easy to do. Get another one. An aftermarket one that's many times stronger than stock is like $100.

If you have drun brakes and your rear end is worn out, it makes little sense to put money into that particular rear. The thing to do would be to get one out of a 90-92 5-cyl 5-speed car and put the SLP posi in it. That way you get the bigger axles, a 3.42 gear, and posi, all for the price of a cheap and realtively plentiful junk rear, a $100 carrier, 2 carrier bearings for about $30, and a couple of bottles of gear lube.
