New engine.. how to get tranny to bolt up (ps dont laugh)
Im waiting to order a crate engine within the next few weeks. I want to get a t56 to go along with it. got a few Q's..
1. Will the flexplate of my 305 work with the new 350/t56?
2. If i go aftermarket t56, will my t5 bellhousing connect the t56 to the new 350?
3. If i pick up a used t56 out of a junk yard, should i take the flexplate and bellhousing too?
thanks everyone

2. - Yep.
3. Yes. And if you are going to go with an production T56, I would suggest getting an engine with an 86 & newer block so it has the one piece rear main seal. Fewer oil leaks, and you can use a stock 93-97 f-body flywheel insetad of being stuck with the aftermarket one.

haha, i always wondered why it had two names...
(PS, you have a flywheel; a flexplate is for an automatic.)
