TC too far into Tranny?

I rebuilt my 700R4. It is now hooked up to the motor and the TC is around 3/8th inch away from the flexplate. (The flexplate is on correctly, I had it on wrong already once) Is this a problem? I know it will draw up to the flexplate when I bolt it up, but I am worried that the TC will pull too far out of the tranny.

A friend of mine has said that this in normal. But I don't remember the old TC being like that when I pulled it apart. But that was 9 months ago. Can't remember.

You definately don't want it to pull out too far... I usually use washers (only one per bolt is usually needed) to take up extra space... 3/8" sounds like a bit much though...

Will using the washers throw off the ballance? I know that if you use the same amount across the 3 bolts it should be close but are the washers consistant and if not is it enough to throw it off. I will be turning 6000rpm. You think it would be a problem to use 2 washers per bolt?

Well, I carefully pick my washers (with a caliper), so theres no balancing issues (never have had any)... I would take a look at everything before I used two washers per bolt to make sure everything else is put together right (flexplate isn't on backwards, is it? )...

Oh, and if I remember correctly, the proper clearance is around 3/16" (this is the amount of space that is okay to have)... I'd get a set of washers, and then measure the clearance... 3/16" is what PATC said for my Raptor trans... (though I think it applies to th350's etc too)...

I did have it on backwards at first, then a freind of mine told me wich way it has to go on last night. I will be putting it on here in an hour or so and maybe that will take up some of the crearance. I think I had around 3/8ths inch clearence with the flexplate on backward. I didn't measure it.
