New gear swap!!! Synthetic or regular gear oil???

Will using synthetic gear oil hurt a new gear set? Do I need to use regular gear oil for break in?

I am putting richmond 3.73's on my stock posi unit. Will the synthetic gear oil be ok from the get go?

thanks.

follow the gear makers break in procedure, usually running the car for around 10 minutes and letting it cool off for 30 and repete 3-4 times. synthetic or dino would make no differance.

Keep reading the posts under the other thread you started.

I wouldn't break in a gearset with synthetic, read why on the other thread.

Personally I don't think the gears will thinks about it twice if you put non-synthetic in. When I did mine I just put in the regular dino oil in, and they have been fine ever since.

I made this thread because the Question is different.

You make a good point, but I think I will use synthetic.

True, it is a different question, but the other thread has digressed into a debate on much the same subject : )

My stance, GL5 for the first 500, then Amsoil synthetic. GM posi addative if needed. I tend to run lockers, so this usually isn't an issue for me.
