Is my tranny fried

Quit some time ago I noticed my car start to chuck when you were going about 30mph or lower in OD when you give it a little more gas but when you would keep it in 3rd it wouldnt have the problem. Then I started to notice when I step on it the rpms dont steadily go up, it likes to slowly rise in rpms and then start to rise faster. I thought my fuel filter was bad so a changed it but that did nothing. Now it is starting to chuck at around 60 it chucks when you give it a little more gas. It seems to when to skip 3rd and go straight into over drive if you dont do it manualy or hold it to the floor. When I first but the car the tranny fluid was over full and smelt burnt but I changed it shortly after. It seems to still smell burnt though. I would think if it was a problem with the fuel system or engine it would have a problem through out the rpm range not just at the spots it chugs at. This really isnt the best desription of the problem but its somewhat hard to explain. But I thought I would see if any one might know whats goin on. Also if my tranny is toast I would rather put a new one in myselve then a shop since it would save my money. So would I be able to swap out the 700r4 and put in a th350 and if so what must a change. Also will the gear ratio be the same. THANKS

hmmmm if your tranny smells chrispy then change it out. id keep the 700 for a daily driver. i kept mine and i have extensive work done to my car. i believe the turbos are the same but without OD. if you swap, youll be running at higher RPMs and i dont think itll be good for gas either. stay wit hthe 700. IMO its the best auto there is. you can try www.camarotransmissions.com or www.700r4.com for a new tranny. cheaper then a rebuilt unit in most areas. shipping will be a different story though
