Differential and axle replacement help needed.
See sig for car info. I think my differential is toast. I was looking into getting the one from SLP that is $99. I have been told that it is a 28 spline and my car has a 26 spline. Is this true? Is so, can I just replace the axles with 28 spline axles? Does anyone know where I can get a set of 28 spline axles? The cheapest I have found them is $196 from gmpartsdirect.

I think you would be able to just swap axle shafts, but I could be wrong. I would check the local junk yards for axle shafts, theres gotta be at least one 89+ thirgen there.

You may be able to find the axles at a local junkyard if you get lucky. I got mine from Hawk's, banner at the top of the page. Bruce had them to me in 3 days!!!
But yeah as long as you get the 28 spline axles you are in good shape to replace it all.

I called Advance Auto Parts today and they said they could get a 28 spline axle for an 82-88 rearend. Is this possible?

i heard somewhere that the 28's are wider and dont fit without borring out the housing or something, not saying this is a fact but i also have a 26 in my 83 and would like a nice "cheap" posi replacement.
just want to make sure that it is a simple direct swap in (assuming the breaks are the same, drum)
