Shift linkage problem

hey all,
The tranny in my car was replaced when i bought it, they did a ****-poor job and i just bought rebuilt one (goes in tomarrow) (the first fried up 3 weeks after i bought the car)

A problem i always had was the TV cable was too short (so i replaced that) but also the shift linkage when adjusted properly when into all the gear correctly but if i put the console lever into 1 the linkage on the tranny would be maxed out and the shift cable would be further back then the linkage can reach? at first i thought there might be different shifter arms (on the tranny side) from 700r4 to 700r4, but my local mechanic said he's been workin with em for years and only seen one type of arm. Could the shifter cable be too short? anyone else had this problem?

my mechanic friend also thought that the car orignially had a 200r4 and a 700r4 was put in recently, and thats why the linkage is fubar.

thanks

99% of all auto trans shifter problems are the cable.

Put a new cable in it and see if that fixes it. Pretty good odds that it will.
