700R4 shifting patterns

I have a 700R4 installed on a carburated '70 camaro. The TV cabel is hooked up through a universal cable attached to the carburator where the old TH350 kickdown cable went. I've also installed the needed bracket for the conversion.

My problem is that the car has dramatically different shifting patterns when hot than it does during the first few minutes after startup and even more so on really warm days, 80+ degrees. At startup it shifts early, around 1200 RPM, and when warm it won't shift until closer to 2500. This is all during cruising of course. I've adjusted the cable to this position as a best compromise between early and late shifts. I usually end up manually shifting the car during warmup.

I have a B&M trans cooler installed. What might be causing these unusual shift points?

Thanks for any advise.
Chris
