What tranny to get?

I'm in the market for a new tranny, but can't figure out which one to get. The tranny I've got now is a stock 700r4 in a 90 camaro. It has the electro speedo. The problem I seem to be running into is that there is no more ECM. I don't want to jerry rig a bunch of crap to get the torque converter to work. I also don't want to get a cable driven speedo either. If I got a pre-86 B&M tranny, could I put my tailshaft on it for the speedo? Can I have my cake and eat it too? I need a good transmission to hold up to the HP of my 383(450hp). I need a good stall around 2200-2800. Please help, my stock is beginning to wear down.

www.700r4.com they make 4 stages of trannies to suit certain needs. also www.camarotransmissions.com makes one that will hold up to 685 HP and TQ

TCI and painless make a kit for 700s in cars without an ECU to maintain the lockup feature. i will be using the painless kit in my car.

as for a converter, its really up to you. you can go vigliantie, which (from what i hear) are bad @ss. or you can go cheaper like B&M or TCI. depends on what you want to spend. i know the vigilanties go for 800 bucks new...lol almost as much as a new tranny
