Trans Cooler
i'm looking for a trans cooler for my car. i have the TH700R4 transmission, and i am running pretty stock right now, just some mild mods. do think it is worth the money? i know heat is really bad for these things so i wanna play it safe, cause it gets pretty hot around here in the summer. it won't hurt if i put it on and don't need it will it? thanks

Get the biggest one you can afford and by-pass the radiator completely. If you've got the extra coin upgrade to the unit with attached fan. Bypassing the radiator will help cool the tranny fluid and the motor coolant.

Since the transmission fluid generally runs at only marginally higher temperatures than the coolant at normal operating temperature (provided you're not running a low-temp. thermostat), the in-tank cooler is going to have little effect on the overall coolant temperature. Also, by running a trans. cooler in-line with the in-tank cooler, you add another layer of cooling as well as helping to pre-heat the transmission. This is especially beneficial in colder climates. Most OEM transmission cooler installations are plumbed this way. Just my $.02
