Gear ratio help PLZ
This is not 100% 3rd gen related but the basic information to figure out gear ratios has to be the same for everything?
I have a set of gear connected by chain. On the 2nd gear set the middle one must stay empty or the chains will rub.
Currently it set up for a 52/48 36/16 final
well that is tool high.
how do I figure out the final ratio from the frist set to the last gear?
I wonder about switching to a
29/36 48/16
or a
52/36 48/16
I know in the past with only one option 50/16 had a good feel but have no idea how to come close to that.
I suck at math BTW.

I just wondered if its some simple math.
52/48= 1.08 to 36/16=2.25 = 1:2.25 final
29/36= 0.80 to 48/16= 3 = 0.8:3 final
[I like this one if the math is right?]
52/36= 1.4 to 48/16= 3 =1.4:3 final
I want to keep it tech related to figuring out gear ratio's but the gears can't be moved or switched easy.
A gear ratio is a gear set should be figure out the same in anything?

ok i played with the numbers again and i ended up same place you did. not sure if that makes us both right or both wrong. if it's something you can see you could turn it by hand and see how that works out.

Well you know people around here, they would be eager to point out that the math was wrong. So since I'm not getting flamed I [we] must be right?

Really make the gear ratio math hard.
not even sure how you would do the math for an inter gear set.
It would still have a 16t sprocket but inside it would have 3 gear planetary sets that would change?
