Tranny leaking from dipstick
This is annoying. I had a rebuilt TH350 put in my car at a local tranny shop. I bought a chrome dipstick for a TH350 at the auto parts store and took it by there. The mechanic that put it in apparently saw that it was going to leak and put black silicone around where it meets the tranny. Well the silicone got hot and disappeared and not its leaking.
These do not have an o ring or anything right? I think it is just like the Oil dipstick which I took out while doing my headers, put back in, and have not had any problems.
Any suggestions, mabye just pushing it in farther, or putting a block of wood on the top and tapping it with a hammer to see if it will seat?
Its not a huge leak, just annoying, especially since Im using Synthetic ATF at $5.00 per quart

he cut the o ring when he installed it, that's why he used the rtv. it's pretty common to cut the o ring. try a new o ring with a little oil and have a helper guide it in the trans while you push from the engine bay.
