kickdown cable

I have a TH350 tranny that I just installed a week ago. I'm rigging up the throttle linkage and and choke cable and kickdown cables, and i realize, I'm not sure how the kickdown cable is installed. how tight doeas it have to be? also, do you hook it up so that the cable is all the way in, so that when the carb pulls on it, it kicks down? or do i have it backwards?

Kickdown cable

Hey Fly,
Just spent the weekend playing with my kickdown cable I installed on my 400. If you adjust the cable all the way in then your tranny will kickdown when you don't want it to. Play it out a bit, test it and see where you like it to kickdown............

the "proper" way is just like the 700r4's. Push the button, and slide the cable into the bracket, then make the carb/EFI go to WOT and it will click...should click and pull out to where it should be.

Also, when at WOT, TH350s will usually stay in gear until you let off a little, then shift....90-95% if I remember right. Most...but not all.

Tom

Slap me twice and call me a newbie... but is this the same thing as adjusting the "TV" cable on my TBI? When I installed my shift kit last summer, I lost the kick down in my transmission almost completely.

Is this something that might resolve the problem.

Probably will. The TV cable controls the fluid pressure in 700R4's which affects all functioning of the transmission.

At the carb end of the cable housing look for a plastic U shaped piece that lifts up or out. That will release the adjuster. Then hold the carb at WOT and pull back on the cable, push the U shaped piece back in to lock it.

RBob.
