i put a 350 eng in my gta with a carb .i took out the computer and put in new wiring harness but now the trans fliud is getting milky and it won,t shift out of first (25 mph max)the trans is a 700r4 .rev gear is slippy too.dose it need ajusted or worse??thanks

I am having shifting problems with my 700R4 in my 87 Z28 too and have been leaning how these boxes work!

I guess you have fitted and adjusted the TV cable properly. There is loads of information on exactly how to set up the cable on the web. It really is critical on these boxes that the cable is attached both to the box and carb in the correct way. Improper adjustment leads to big problems fast!

If you removed the pan, check your oil level, might be low.

Sounds stupid but about 14 years ago when I did my first shift kit install on a 700R4 (first time I ever messed with a transmission at all), I didn't fill the oil back up to the proper level, and it did not want to shift out of first gear. I figured out the oil was low, and filled it up, problem solved.

Then years later my Mother-in-law said her astro wouldn't shift out of first (also a 700R4). Checked the fluid, changed the tailshaft bushing and seal, filled it up, problem solved.

Hope thats it, easy fix.
