T-5 conversion

Just bought an 87 Camaro, with the 2.8L V-6, 700r4... I'd Love to put in a 350 with the T-5, however due to monetary issues I can't afford the motor right now. I bought the T-5 to go in. Just pulled the 700r4, and was wondering what the cable on the passenger side top of the tranny pan was? It is a black cable that is bolted to the top of the pan... Also what do I do with the 4 wire connector when I put the T5 in? and the cables that went to the shifter where do they go? And By the way I got lost in the tech article to swap...

Please Help...

That black cable is the TV (throttle valve) cable connects to your throttle body and tells the trans when to shift/downshift

The 4 prong connector is your speedo .. might have to change to mechanical if thats what your T5 is

The cables in the auto shifter connect up to the clutch safety switch

and the v6 t5 is not really compatable with the v8 i think it has taller gears and a course input shaft there are a couple people with a v6 t5 and a v8 bellhousing but it might grenade

are you sure that the 4 prong is the speedo? There was a cable on the driver's side that we pulled out and when you spin it it moves the speedo needle.

So I won't need it when I put the T-5 in. Now the next problem is will I be able to use the same speedo cable (is a 1" long gear that was on the driver side of the tranny) on the t-5, or will I have to find one specially for the T-5?

When I swaped my t-5 in place of the 700R4 My speedometer was cable driven and it threaded on and works fine. The only way you would need anything different is if you had a electric speedometer You would need a different (VSS) Vechicle Speed Sensor. But I think You will be fine.
