3.42's are in and rolling.

I finished my 3.42 rear gears change over today...put new pads and calipers on the front, new ES bushing up front, rear, TQ arm and endlinks, LE1 Alumin driveshaft. I dont know if its just me but I cant really tell a difference in the new gears......I wonder why? maybe cause I was expecting a BIG! differnece..I went from 2.73 to 3.42

Im going to the track here in an hr and see what the difference is in the 1/8th ...if there is any at all! ITs the first cruise-in/car show of the year and it should be packed! Im all cleaned and ready!

next on my list in the next week is a stall converter...and if that doesnt give me a SOTP change then......the hell with this car!

plus Im tapped out on my credit cards!..LOL

Glad to hear you finally got it up and running, you were fighting with that rear for a while

Nice looking car, BTW. How'd you do at the track?

I went from what I thought was 2.73 gears to 3.42s and also didn't feel much of a difference. Found out why about a year and a half later when checking the rear I pulled out, they were 3.08 gears Someone pulled a switch on me and the car didn't have the stocker 2.73 gears.

Shiznic, id check your old gear set even your new axle and make sure you got what you paid for. When I went from 2.73's to 3.42's it made a huge difference. I honestly thought someone dropped a big block under the hood while I wasent looking, IT MADE THAT MUCH OF A CHANGE!

Nope, no times. I didnt get to run, I got there to late and it was bracket night and I didnt get a dial-in. Oh well maybe thats a good thing...didnt want to stress the rear and gears to much on the first outing even thought they are used gears and didnt need break-in.

Oh, yeah I can really tell a difference in the 3.42's over my 2.73's the car does pull alot better and I can see it in the tach, when I had the 2.73 I used to run 1800/1900 at 70 now Im doing 2300/2400 ....so I like them alot, keeps me up in the rpm's where the power is. ....next on the list is a TQ converter either a 2800 or 3000 stall then Im done......tapped out on the credit cards and saved money....gotta wait till winter to do anything else...unless some extra money comes in....but atleast Im sure Ive taken a 15.4 car into the low 14's or even high 13's..got wait till I get to a 1/4 mile to prove it to myself.
