T-5 Problems
Ok. I just had a friend rebuild my T-5 for an 83 Z28. After putting it back in my car & test driving it I have some problems! First, one of my shifter bolts are stripped. Second, when driving it feels like it isn't positively in gear & actually jumps out of certain gears. One gear slightly whines also. Now, did my friend not put things back in right, or does my one shifter bolt being stripped cause this. If any more info is needed to help me diagnose this problem is needed let me know. I'm trying to sell this car & this trans problem is really holding things up! Thanks.

Well, shifter popping out of gear is usually a sychro problem. The whining is bearings usually. How many miles are on the trans? There is fluid in it I asume? Didn't leak out or anything?

Yeah there is still fluid in it. First thing I checked lol. My dad took care of the rebuild by getting one of his friends to do it. I'm thinking it was just a patch job & not a total rebuild. But I would think that the synchros would be the obvious to change along with the bearings. I might have to take the trans back out & have him redo it. Was hoping that maybe the shifter might be the problem so it wouldn't be that much of a hassle but looks like the trans is coming back out. Thanks for the input.
