how does the shifter fit in the center console, i went to their website and it says it will hit the ash tray

I have a tremec in my 86. I rebuilt the shift lever a little to get it perfectly centered. Not a big deal if you have a welder. I think it was about 1/2-3/4 inch off the way it came.

Mine (TKO) came with a shifter adapter from Forte's.
It's just a piece of 1/4" thick steel with 4 holes drilled into it.
It's about 1-1/4" long and 1" wide.
The plate bolts to the shifter stub and then the stick bolts onto the other end.
This relocates it back far enough to clear everything.
(the stick just needs to move about 1" to the rear)
