Is it worth it? My tranny fluid is looking pretty raunchy lately, it's a dark orange/brown color.

 

That is not too bad at my work we charge $130. It takes a lot of fluid to flush the system somwhere like 12-15 qts. I would say pretty decent price.

 

That's with my employee discount, so, yeah. We charge around the same as ya'll normally.

 

you could always just buy your own fluid and then just use the machine to flush it. It might be less, then you can use your fluid of choice.

 

A while back someone posted a DIY tranny flush. If you do a search you can find it. I have yet to do it but I plan on doing it very soon, since my transmission fluid isn't looking too good, either.

Basically, you just disconnect the bottom tranny line that goes to the radiator, put a rubber hose on the end and route to a container, start the car, and as the bad tranny fluid comes out pour in new fluid FAST through the dipstick tube until the fluid looks good, turn the car off, then reconnect tranny line, add fluid until its at the right level (should be around 4 to 5 quarts), and then your done.

There are more steps involved than this, but this is the general idea. It also takes about 12 quarts or more to do. If you want all the details on how to do it, just ask and I'll post it.

 

I have gone DIY route before in a pinch. It is hard to get the exact amount of fluid in the tranny and it can be messy. You have to fill it fast so you don't run it dry as well.
