While driving over the freeway last night, my RPMs just shot up and I realized I'd lost 4th. When I got to a stop light and pressed the gas, I was stuck in 1st and she didn't want to shift up, even when I ran the shifter through the gears. Once I hit the freeway again, everything was fine, but I had the same problem once I hit another stop light and this time I heard noises and felt abnormal vibrations. R and P are just fine, though.

I read through a bunch of old posts that pointed to TV cable readjustment for shifting problems, but my problem seems a bit different. Fluid is fine (I just did a flush and she's full) but smells a little burnt. What could the problem be? Is my tranny shot?
