I have a 700r4 trans and when you put it in drive or 1 which ever it pulls fine it has been sliping a bit between gears but now as soon as it shifts out of 2 in to drive it will not pull at all same in overdrive the car has not been drove in about a week and a half and did not slip that i noticed and def. not like it is now, time for a rebuild? any other suggestions

nobody? this is my daily driver and i dont really have the money to rebuild it right now

 

ptu the shifter doen in 1st gear nto drive.... if it shifts fine when you shift it into 2nd by hand you ahve a bad cluth pack or a band is going... when you drop it into 1st gear you have the "Over run protection" clutches on and they why it won't slip... thats oen way to test it.... its also a way to "Limp" home when you fry your trans at the strip..... lol believe me been there done that

 

If you have 1st & 2nd only, then you have lost the 3-4 clutch pack (very common), time for a rebuild.
