Hold your brake pedal down slightly while you're going 55mph.

If the rpm goes up slightly, and doesn't surge up and down any longer, then your TCC may have been locking and unlocking. This can be due to the ECM getting poor signal from the TPS, VSS, CTS...

Unplug the VSS plug at the tranny (4 wire square)

If it stops, then you know that the TCC unlocking & locking is your problem.

As to figuring out whether it's VSS or temp or whatever bad value to the ECM or wiring that's causing the problem, that's another story.

Good news, i unhooked the vss from the tranny, no more problems. Just a few minutes ago i read that leaving it unhooked could cause it to burn out a 4th. Now the question is which is easiest way to check the system? Or should i just start replacing parts in order of easiest to hardest?

put a volts-meter on your TPS and see if it operates smoothly voltage-wise, and also maintains a consistent reading when held steady.

actually easier would be to plug a scanner in and check TPS and also the temp reading. And VSS reading.

Your VSS is in the tranny tailhousing; signal is fed to a DRAC which feeds the ECM, and then the speedo/cruise.

So grab a scanner.

it adds heat w/ out lockup; 700s don't like that. Unhook it for diagnosis only; once you figure it's the solenoid, go ahead and change those parts ASAP.
