Hi, I think the transmission in my car needs a rebuild, the reason I think this is because I cant spin the tyres, before I could spin them easy but lately the car started to feel really poor when it was going from 1st to 2nd and now I can chirp the tyres (barely) but no spin is this due to the transmission? My mechanic said there was a flat spot between the first and second gears and he thinks thats whats causing my lack of torque is he right? I've been to a few transmission places and they have all said it needs a rebuild but I wanted to make sure that it is the transmission effecting my lack of torque and not something else.

 

think you have a problem in the power making department not the transmission. have your trans tested if you aren't sure before you jump in and replace or rebuild it, and i tihnk i'd find another mechanic.

 

Yeah its odd though, occasionally a few times I've been able to spin the tyres really well so if it was something wrong with the engine would I still be able to spin the tyres occasionally?
