Ok guys i have a 700r4 tranny and when i went to drive the car Sunday morning i got in and the car wouldnt shift out of 1st gear so i figure tranny is shot i get back in it a couple hours later and the car shifts perfect no problems at all. So monday i drive it and the car is completely normal. Now today i get up to go to school and again tranny wont shift out of 1st gear. I come back 3 hours later and the car shifts perfect again and has been fine all day long. Anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this??

 

Something may be plugging up the govener passage or the govener weights may be sticking. Take a look at the govener before your condemn the trans.

 

Is that located in the valve body?

 

no, the governor is near the end of the tranny on the driver side. there is a round cover that you have to pop off, and it is inside there
