Engine: 350
Transmission: T 56
question about computer
I have a 86 trans am with the stock tpi on a 350.
It has a 700r4 with the electronic pick up .
My question is does the speed sensor send a signal to the computer or the speedo or both?
And if the computer does get this signal with a t56 swap will the SGI 5B box provide me with the proper signal?

If the VSS is located in the tranny, it sends the signal to the ECM, and the ECM then "runs" the speedometer.
Check the stickies. I believe the T-56 uses a different pulse count system.
