t5 problem: tranny wont budge
well today i was idling my car in neutral trying to figure out my cooling problem. the cars doing fine and then i hear this snap and the engine dies, right away i get scared cause i think its the motor, which was just rebuilt and has like less than 20 miles on it. so i try starting it again and it starts and runs fine, but when i go to let the clutch out to have it idle in neutral it stalls. the trannie's neutral gear wouldnt budge, also all of the drive gears are locked up, i tried those today and the car wont move an inch...i dont know trannys that well so i need some help figuring out the problem on this one! help!

Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
Something let go inside of the case and bound it up.
Only way to know what let go is to remove the trans and inspect it.

Lemme get this straight. You were idling the engine, tranny in neutral and with the clutch engaged? Then all of a sudden it made a noise, the engine died, and now the tranny is basically siezed?
Ouch. Pull it outta there, something broke inside and nas it bound. Hopefully the damage isn't too extensive.

yeah thats what happened. this chevy tech i know said it sounds like it was "lack of fluid" so right off the bat that blows
if thats true i wanna know where the hell it went. i lost a tiny bit when i had to seperate part of the casing, but not very much, i'm wondering if it didn't get tightened down or was loosened and continued to leak. i didn't see it on the driveway though....but either way, i think its fried. so im in the proccess of pulling it out.

separate the casing? how did you do that ? with it in the car? did you support the front of the transmission when you removed the back?
