Th350 spacer???

Im in the middle of swapping out my 700r4 for a short shaft th350. I got it rebuilt and had a 700r4 output shaft put in. What I need now is the spacer block that fits in between the transmission and the tail shaft so I can bolt up my torque arm to the stock tailshaft. Where can I find one of these spacers. Ive seen pictures of them and have heard people talk about them but no one said where to get them. Please help, I REALLY want to get my car back on the road.

I phoned jegs and summit and they both said that such a product does not exist. Is there anyother place that sells these?

call them again jegs list the b&m piece right next to the one from hurst. if you don't like jegs or summit call doug hurbert or tommy johnson or anyone else the sells preformace parts. i'm sure they'd all love to have your money and buisness.

That's not what he's looking for.

That lets you use the 83-92 tq. arm and 82 driveshaft with a TH350.

He's looking for a block spacer that goes between the TH350 maincase, behind which you install a 700-R4 f-body tailhousing.

That gives you a 700-R4 length TH350 that uses the 83-92 tq. arm and driveshaft.

There's another thread with like 80 posts on page 1 - it has no PN either.

How are you going to do that without a longer output shaft? and this is not something you can just slap on, it's barried in the unit.

That kit lets you use a TH350 with a 9" tailshaft with the same driveshaft that your 700R4 used.

I haven't seen a spacer that lets you use the 700R4 tailshaft.

Okay so that kit will allow you to use
  • a 9" tail TH350 with stock 700-R4 torque arm & driveshaft
  • a short tail TH350 with stock 700-R4 torque arm and a 200-C driveshaft

Right? We might as well clear this up for everyone. Too bad the person who started this thread didn't start w/ a 9" TH350... could he just put the 9" tailhousing on and go w/ that bracket kit now?

OK OK, I hear you...Sorry a lot of us get complacent with the "swapping 700 or 200c to a 350 threads".

I didn't know it was possible to install a 700 output shaft in a 350.

But yea, he should have no problem with a 9" tail and the B&M kit; however the only thing I can think of would be the speedo gear location on the 700 output shaft.

Good point Ron, hadn't thought of that. A hole drilled into the output for the clip wouldn't be tough to do if it was way off.

Spacer block

ronterry, you're right. A 700r4 output shaft won't work in a th350.
A 9" th350 output shaft will make a th350 the same length as a 700r4, however. I think the block they are talking about is used in a kit to convert a 700r4 to a th350 in a 4WD(with aluminum transfer case?). Then the 700r4 tailhousing will make it the right length for the torque arm to bolt up. The speedo gear should be in the right place, also. Any transmission shop should be able to order that kit. A 4WD or off road specialty shop should be able to get them, too.

That is 100% false. A 700r4 output shaft will most definately work in a Th350 trans. You install the output shaft, then use the spacer to install the 700r4 tailshaft, then you can retain the stock speedo equpment, torque arm and mount, and driveshaft. Ask me how I know.

Just to clear some things up. I had a short shaft th350, I had my tranny shop rebuild it and put in a 9 inch shaft. I can bolt up my stock 700r4 driveshaft but the torque arm mounts will be 2 inches short. Im aware that I could use the 9 inch tail shaft and the B&M kit, but I heard it was cheaper to get this spacer.

I guess it might work, I dont know. As far as I know the spacer is sold in a kit only. The shop that built mine also does custom exhaust, and when I am there getting my new pipes (read: plural, two pipes. I rock.), I will be sure to ask.

I talked to a guy at Aamco to today. He said he has done this kit years before but did not remember the manufactor. He has a book on the kit in his tool box and said i could have it since he no longer needs it. I will go by on Monday to get it and will post all the info.
