Turbo 400....

Well i finall killed my T 400 tonite, all i have is second gear..
What on average does a rebuild for a 400 cost?? The trans "whines" when you rev up the engine......not just in gear but in Park and Neutral as well?? Any ideas on what i broke? the trans fluid stinks but is still clear? I was really expecting metal bits to be on the end on the stick but there were none, The worst part is that i need this car up and running for my bro's wedding in 3 weeks as he wants it for his wedding car...good grief...!!!, thanks for any ideas in advance , S

400's are pretty reasonable to build. Make sure you get the converter done/flushed as well or it will likely kill the new trans. Can't say for sure on cost but around here you can get a pro built one done for about $4-500 USD.

Doh! Dude its late and I see that you too are in Canada. Make that $7-800 Canadian dollars then plus install if nec. If you are in the Toronto area there is a solid place in Richmond Hill called Automatics Plus. Jim is the owner. Cool guy and quality work. All the snow plow guys use him and you know how much abuse those trannies take. Good luck

Well how's the new tranny working for you? Just curious on what you did with the stall ( new? rebuilt? )

Apparently heat generation is the real downside to the 400's. Keep em cool and they last forever.
